Octagon Website Privacy Policy

This website (the “Site”) is operated by Octagon Worldwide Limited* (“Octagon” or “we”).  Octagon is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to our Site.  This privacy policy outlines the way in which Octagon gathers and uses information relating to users of this Site (“you”).  Your continued use of this Site indicates your consent to the use (including transfer) of information as set out below.

Information Collection and Use

Octagon is the sole owner of the information collected on this Site.  Our Site collects certain information about users of the Site: such as the server your computer is logged onto and your browser type; information as to what pages have been viewed (e.g. using cookies as further explained below); and information volunteered by you.
The information we collect is used to help us understand how the Site is being used and to allow us to communicate with you.  The data collected from visitors to our site is analyzed in aggregate form to show trends and improve the Site for future visits.

Cookies

Our Site uses cookies to track a visitor's path through the Site.  A “cookie” is a small file containing an identity code that a website transfers to your computer upon you accessing a website.  When you return to that website the code is retrieved allowing your computer to be recognised and the preferences associated with the computer (i.e. choice of language) implemented.  The cookies we use do not record personal information (“PI”), information that can be linked to you personally.  Once you close your Internet browser, the cookie simply terminates.  Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies.  However, if you prefer, you can set your browser to refuse cookies, although our site may not perform at optimum levels without cookies.

Text or Log Files

A text or log file is a file that describes which files or webpages a site visitor has requested from our server(s).  Like most public websites, our Site collects non-PI data about you when you arrive at our Site through text files and your Internet Protocol (IP) address.  An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you connect to the Internet; this number is not linked to any PI.  The number is used by network computers to identify your computer so that data can be sent to you.  Octagon collects IP addresses for system administration purposes and to gather broad demographic information about our visitors' browsing actions and patterns for aggregate use only.

Sharing

The information we collect will not be sold, shared with, or rented to other parties outside of Octagon save as required by law or in accordance with your prior consent.  However, should any of Octagon’s operations be transferred outside of the group, subject to confidentiality undertakings your details may be disclosed to our advisors and any actual or potential transferee.

Security

We have sought to ensure the protection of your information on our Site.  When you submit sensitive information to Octagon via our Site, that information is protected both online and off-line.
Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, the Webmaster, System Administrators and Octagon HR) are granted access to any PI.

Notification of Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page and may place notices on other pages of the Site in an effort to ensure our users are always aware of: what information we collect; how we use it; and under what circumstances, if any, we will disclose it.  If at any point we decide to use PI in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify affected users by email.  Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner.  We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.

Should you wish to update any of the information that you have provided to us, please let us know by sending an email to ukwebsite.information@octagon.com. Any email communications we may send to subscribers will include an unsubscribe facility.

This Site may contain links to other websites outside of our control and therefore not operating under this privacy policy.  If you access other websites following the links provided, the operators of those sites may collect information from you and use such information in accordance with their privacy policy which may differ from ours.
