IL DIVO win The Breakthrough Award at the Billboard 6th Annual Touring Awards
Congratulations to IL DIVO for winning The Breakthrough Award at the Billboard 6th Annual Touring Awards on 5th November 2009.
The Breakthrough Award is given to top grossing artists in their first decade as a headlining act with IL DIVO beating Taylor Swift, Kings of Leon and Lil Wayne also shortlisted for the award.
IL DIVO will complete their largest worldwide tour to date ‘An Evening with Il Divo’ next week; the massive trek has brought them to 81 cities and 32 countries and was named one of the top 10 grossing tours of 2009 by U.S. trade magazine Pollstar.
The tour supported the group’s fifth album ‘The Promise’ which debuted at #1 in nine countries and marked their biggest opening first week sales ever in the U.S. A live album and DVD of the sold out Barcelona show (20,000 people) is set for global release on November 30.
In December, Carlos, David, Sebastien & Urs will return to the UK & Nth America for some intimate Christmas shows, a first ever for IL DIVO who have performed Christmas songs in front of the Queen and past US Presidents but never before a concert audience. The show will feature some very special guests across different cities such as Emmy & Tony award winning star soprano Kristin Chenoweth and violin virtuoso, Vanessa Mae.
