Multi-platinum group announces intimate, limited-run Christmas tour.
Special Guests include Kristin Chenoweth, Vanessa Mae and more
One of the world’s biggest musical groups Il Divo has announced a series of intimate shows entitled Celebrate Christmas with Il Divo, a limited-run holiday tour that will kick off in London on December 7th and travel to Toronto, Atlantic City, Wallingford, CT and New York City.
This is a first-ever for Il Divo who have performed Christmas songs in front of The Queen and past U.S. Presidents, but never before a concert audience. See dates listed below.
For the shows, Il Divo will perform songs in three languages (English, Spanish and Italian) from the group’s double platinum album The Christmas Collection and their recent album The Promise including stunning renditions of Silent Night, White Christmas and O Holy Night as well as inspirational favorites such as Amazing Grace and Ave Maria. Il Divo will be joined by revered local orchestras - featuring 37 players - in each city such as the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in London and the Opera Orchestra of New York. The evening will feature some very special guests thoughout the show across different cities, such as Emmy & Tony-winning star, soprano Kristin Chenoweth, international violin virtuoso Vanessa Mae, jazz vocal sensation Holly Cole, violinist Anne Akiko Meyers & rising new soprano Camilla Kerslake, who will join Il Divo onstage for several duets and collaborations throughout the evening as well as each having their own solo performances. Il Divo is preparing several new Christmas songs as well.
Il Divo will complete their largest worldwide tour to date An Evening with Il Divo in November; the massive trek has brought them to 81 cities and 32 countries and was named one of the top 10 grossing tours of 2009 by U.S. trade magazine Pollstar. An Evening with Il Divo supported the group’s fifth album The Promise which debuted at #1 in nine countries and marked their biggest opening first week sales ever in the U.S. A live album and DVD are being planned as a result of this tour.
