Anastacia
The year 2000 saw Anastacia’s debut album Not That Kind sell over 5,000,000 copies worldwide, instantly making her a global superstar. As well as being the new millennium, it was also the start of what would be Anastacia’s remarkable career.
Born in Chicago and raised in New York, Anastacia has been a singer for as long as she can remember and spent years performing wherever she could. Unsurprisingly, she was spotted and immediately signed to Epic records.
Her debut album exploded throughout Europe, propelling her to immediate stardom. Her 2002 release, Freak Of Nature, saw her recording career go from strength-to-strength and, since then, Anastacia has sold an incredible 16 million albums worldwide.
In January 2003, Anastacia announced that she had breast cancer. Typically, she indicated that it would not stop her from achieving her dreams and she threw herself into her work, appearing on a closed set in New York for the filming of Love Is A Crime for the Chicago soundtrack. During the difficult months that followed, Anastacia sang and wrote with a passion she had never known before and, by the autumn, she emerged as the survivor everyone already suspected she was.
Anastacia returned to the studio and, in 2004, released a self-titled album that reflected the reality of her life's experiences. With tracks such as Left Outside Alone and Sick-n-Tired, Anastacia bared her soul and let her fans into her most personal thoughts. She went on to sell an amazing 1.2 million in the UK and was certified platinum several times over.
After such a life-changing period, in 2005 Anastacia decided to celebrate her achievements to date by releasing her ultimate greatest hits collection Pieces Of A Dream. It was a fitting summary to an exceptional era in her life.
In August 2006, Anastacia went on to create her own distinct clothing range within the s.Oliver fashion label. Her designs proved to be highly popular, with the first range instantly selling out, leaving fans demanding more.
In 2007, Anastacia recently signed a new deal with Mercury Records, reuniting her with its new president David Massey, with whom she has collaborated with on all her past records. Anastacia recorded her new album Heavy Rotation, with some of the world’s most desired producers including Ne-Yo (Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Beyonce), Lester Mendez (Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Page), JR Rotem (Sean Kingston, Destiny’s Child, Fergie), Guy Chambers: (Robbie Williams, Cathy Dennis, Kylie Minogue), Rodney Jerkins (Pussycat Dolls, Beyonce, Natasha Bedingfield).
Last years release of her album Heavy Rotation, blew fans & critics away storming the European charts.
For 2009, Anastacia will be embarking on a global tour. This kicks off on the 4th June in St Petersburg and sees Anastacia playing right across Europe through June/July and then September. The world can certainly expect plenty more from the little lady with the big, big voice.
