Robert Dinwiddie

Robert Dinwiddie was among the handful of talented young golfers that joined the 2008 European Tour, thanks to sweeping victories in two Challenge Tour tournaments in the space of just seven days.

On August 19 2007 - as a 24-year-old from County Durham in his rookie year as a pro - Robert won the Scottish Challenge with a last-round 67. He made five birdies on the front nine of the Macdonald Cardrona Hotel course and finished with a 20-under total of 268.

One week later, Dinwiddie was at his imperious best in winning the Rolex Trophy in Geneva, carding a brilliant final round eight-under par 64 to emerge from the chasing pack and record a three-stroke win.

It was another surging round that included an incredible nine birdies and just one dropped shot. With such a well-rounded game, Dinwiddie has always demonstrated the ability to shoot low scores when they matter most.

Since then, he has established himself on the PGA European Tour with a series of low scores including the lowest ever round - a course record 63 - at Wentworth during the 2008 BMW PGA Championship. Robert had previously posted a final round 66 in the European Open de Andalucia which helped him finish in a personal best 6th place. Earlier in the week, Robert hit the lowest score of the tournament with a second round score of -7 under, 65. Later in the season Robert narrowly missed out on winning the European Masters to bring a fantastic first year on tour to an end. He was then awarded runner up in the prestigious Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award.

During his time at Tennessee State University, Dinwiddie picked up six wins on the 2004 college circuit and was ranked the number one English golfer in the United States.

In 2005, Dinwiddie won the Scottish and Welsh Amateur Championships in successive weeks. This was followed by the accolade of being selected for the Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup team to play in the USA.

On 21 May 2006 he won the Brabazon Trophy, the English Amateur Strokeplay Championship - in the process becoming the only player in history ever to hold the Welsh, Scottish and English Strokeplay titles.

Dinwiddie has made rapid progress in recent years, but he’s thrived at every level. The mark of a champion.
