Coca Cola - Euro 2004™
Coca-Cola were looking for a creative idea to leverage their European Championships sponsorship investment in the Irish market, despite Ireland failing to qualify for the tournament.
Their main target for the activity was 18-24 year old males and Octagon was tasked with creating a sales promotion that would capture their attention and stimulate purchase.
Through focus groups and consumer analysis, Octagon developed ‘the ultimate road trip’ concept.
The instant-win mechanic featured with five main prizes: winners left Ireland in a customised campervan with three friends and were driven overland to Portugal, having planned their journey themselves. Upon arrival, they received tickets to selected matches and enjoyed two weeks soaking up the atmosphere. 5000 runners up received branded hand-held televisions.
We secured world famous Italian referee Pierluigi Collina as the face of the “Big Send Off” campaign, with a number of PR appearances and photo shoots to deliver quality coverage - including the front page of the Irish Times.
Octagon delivered full programme management of the promotion, including design, suppliers, packaging, prize fulfillment, insurance and delivery of the road trip including logistics, staffing and on-the-ground support throughout.
