Darius Knight
Darius is blessed with a charasmatic personality and exceptional talent.
His personal and table tennis qualities have made him attractive to media, sponsors and the public. However Darius stands out from humble beginnings, playing table tennis for fun at the age of 9 he paid just 50p for lessons! After finding himself in a youth club at the age of 11, little did he know how his life was about to be turned around. Darius was selected with a few other youngsters from the youth club to recieve extra table tennis training in a graden shed in Wandsworth, which provided them with a free space and allowed for uninterepted training. The unusual circumstances recieveed interest from The Times and donations flooded in to help start Daruis’s career, which led to the setting up of a sporting charity, TTK Greenhouse and helping him reach Internnational standard by the age of 14.
2008 was a very succesful year for Darius, becoming the U21 National Champion where he defeated teammate Paul Drinkhall. It was also the year he became the Mens doubles National Champion with Paul, making them the most successful pair in Europe. Darius was also the 2008 Mixed doubles Nation Champion runner up. By December 2008, Darius was ranked number 11 in the world and number 2 in Europe in the under 21 age category.
In 2009 Darius spent 3 months training in China, a unique experience that greatly improved his game. Darius’s next aim is to win Gold at the 2012 Olymmpics and he is also keen to help other youngsters who were in his position by one day becoming a coach.
