Oliver Golding
Having burst to fame as a child actor appearing in Scrooge at the London Palladium and landing the lead role in the remake of The Adventurers of Greyfriars Bobby, released February 2006, Oliver certainly knows how to deal with stardom. While acting Oliver continued playing tennis but 18 months ago he decided to concentrate on tennis full time, and launching his professional tennis career.
His mother Sandra is a professional tennis coach and has always coached him, starting out in their back garden at home in Twickenham. At just 16 years old, he has already won the accolade of being the number 1 under 16s and under 18s player in the UK. In May 2009 Oliver was the youngest tennis player to achieve a men’s ATP world ranking and he was the only 15 year old among the British top 10 in the International junior rankings.
September saw Oliver compete in the Mexico Junior Davis Cup and convincingly defeat rival Younes Matroughui to help lead Great Britain on to further success. Oliver’s aim is to one day be the Wimbledon Champion.
